VILLAGE OF BIG ROCK

GOVERNMENT

The Village of Big Rock was formed in 2001. Because of aggressive moves from communities near us there was a need to protect our borders. Without doing this more than half the village would have been annexed into Sugar Grove.

The village of Big Rock is run by a Council-Manager form of government lead by a Village President. An elected village board is responsible for making policy, passing ordinances, voting appropriations, and having overall supervisory authority.

Members of the Big Rock Village Board convene twice monthly at the Park District Meeting Hall. Meetings are generally scheduled for the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month, except those falling on a holiday. Each meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. and the public is cordially invited and encouraged to attend.

Members are elected every 4 years on staggered terms.
